A common guideline is about 10% of your body weight. Someone who weighs 150 lb would start around 15 lb. Comfort matters as much as the number, so choose a weight that feels heavy but easy to move.
Is a 20 lb weighted blanket too heavy?
For adults around 175 lb and up, a 20 lb weighted blanket is in line with the 10% guideline. For lighter adults it may feel heavier than expected, and a 15 lb blanket is often the better choice.
What weights do weighted blankets come in?

What if I am between two weights?

Can you wash a weighted blanket in the washing machine?
It depends on the blanket, so always check the care label. BloomKnit™ can be machine washed cold in a front-loading machine on the bedding cycle, inside the included cotton wash bag. Do not use a top-loader, as agitation can pull the knit. Dry it flat or tumble dry on low, and never hang it wet.
