Description

Naturally cushioned. Exceptionally constructed.

The Wool Wrap Mattress pairs resilient support with the natural comfort of cotton and virgin New Zealand wool. Its substantial eight-inch profile is thoughtfully layered, carefully tufted and finished in a durable cotton-twill shell for a beautifully balanced feel.

At its center, two 1.5-inch layers of high-density foam provide firm, dependable support. Dense cotton cushioning and a plush two-inch layer of virgin New Zealand wool surround the core, creating an extra-firm wool wrap futon mattress with the substance and comfort of a premium mattress.

Designed for flexible modern living, it can be placed on a properly sized platform bed, daybed or compatible convertible frame. Its substantial construction makes it an elevated alternative to a thin, temporary futon cushion.

Inside the Wool Wrap Mattress

Every layer has a distinct purpose. Two layers of high-density foam form the supportive center of the mattress. The foam core is surrounded by dense cotton batting, which gives the Wool Wrap its substantial body and cushioned feel.

The Full-size mattress contains approximately 50 pounds of cotton. Cotton content varies by mattress size.

A plush two-inch layer of virgin New Zealand wool surrounds the cotton and foam interior. Naturally resilient wool fibers add cushioning and insulating comfort while helping the mattress maintain its distinctive, substantial feel.

The layered interior is enclosed in a heavyweight cotton-twill shell constructed with separate top, bottom and side panels. Closely spaced lace tufts, additional cotton crowning and double-stitched seams help secure the internal layers and support the mattress’s tailored shape.

Premium Mattress Comfort for Flexible Living

A futon mattress should not have to feel temporary. The Wool Wrap combines flexible, tufted construction with the substantial profile and carefully layered comfort expected from a premium mattress.

It is an elevated choice for city apartments, studios, guest rooms and multifunctional spaces where comfort and versatility are equally important. Place it on a properly sized platform bed for a clean, low-profile sleep setting, or pair it with a compatible daybed or convertible frame.

Because tufted futon mattresses are designed to compress and flex, their finished dimensions may vary slightly from conventional rigid mattresses. Always measure your platform or frame before ordering.

Comfort and Firmness

Firmness: Extra firm

Best for: Sleepers who prefer a solid, supportive surface with limited sink

Construction: Cotton, virgin New Zealand wool and high-density double foam

Profile: Approximately 8 inches

The Wool Wrap has a dense, substantial feel. Its cotton and wool layers provide cushioning, but this is not a soft or deeply conforming mattress. It is best suited to customers who prefer firm, stable support.

Mattress comfort is personal. Perceived firmness may vary depending on body type, sleeping position and the foundation beneath the mattress.

Two 1.5-inch layers of high-resiliency foam create a responsive core that supports both everyday sitting and overnight sleep. The result is a structured, buoyant mattress that feels supportive rather than deeply contouring.

Best for: Back and stomach sleepers, combination sleepers who prefer a firmer surface, daily-use futons, guest rooms and compatible platform beds.

Choose another feel if: You want deep pressure-relieving contouring or a soft, cradling sensation. The Visco Classic may be the better choice for that preference.

Frequently asked questions

Product Questions, Answered

What is the Gold Bond WoolWrap mattress made of?

The WoolWrap is made with a plush 2-inch layer of New Zealand wool, approximately 50 pounds of cotton in the Full size and two 1.5-inch layers of supportive foam. The comfort layers are enclosed in a heavyweight cotton-twill shell and held in position with closely spaced lace tufting.

How firm is the WoolWrap futon mattress?

The WoolWrap has a firm, substantial and resilient feel. It provides stable support with less body-contouring sink than a memory foam mattress, making it a strong choice for customers who prefer sleeping on a firmer surface.

Is the WoolWrap suitable for sleeping every night?

Yes. The WoolWrap is designed for both everyday sitting and overnight sleeping. Its dense cotton, New Zealand wool and dual foam layers provide the structured support needed for regular use, although comfort preference is personal and it is best suited to people who enjoy a firmer mattress.

Does wool make a futon mattress hot?

Wool is naturally breathable and acts as an insulator, helping regulate comfort through changing seasons. The New Zealand wool layer is designed to retain warmth in cooler conditions while allowing heat and moisture to move away from the body in warmer conditions. Individual sleep temperature can still vary.

Can the WoolWrap be used on a platform bed?

Yes, the WoolWrap can be used on a supportive platform bed as well as a compatible futon frame. Because futon mattresses can finish slightly shorter than conventional mattress dimensions, confirm the platform measurements before ordering if an exact fit is important.

What frame works with the WoolWrap?

The WoolWrap is best suited to a compatible bi-fold futon frame or a supportive platform bed. The foundation should provide even support across the mattress and match the size selected. Confirm compatibility with the frame manufacturer before purchasing.

Why can a futon mattress finish shorter than its listed size?

Futon mattresses are flexible and tufted so they can bend on a futon frame. The cotton and wool layers compress and settle during manufacturing, shipping and use, so the finished mattress may measure approximately 1 to 2 inches shorter than its nominal size. This is normal for futon construction and is not necessarily a manufacturing defect.

Is the WoolWrap futon mattress fire retardant?

The Gold Bond WoolWrap is manufactured to meet applicable U.S. mattress flammability requirements, including California Technical Bulletin 117. However, it is not fireproof and can burn if exposed to an ignition source.

The WoolWrap includes a substantial layer of New Zealand wool, a fiber valued for its natural resistance to ignition. The mattress also contains cotton, foam and an outer fabric covering.

Keep the mattress away from cigarettes, candles, open flames, space heaters and damaged electrical cords. Always follow the manufacturer’s safety and care instructions.
