BloomKnit™ by Blanket & Bloom is a hand-knit chunky cotton weighted blanket made from 100% cotton, inside and out. Its open, breathable construction is designed for hot sleepers who want calming weighted comfort, gentle distributed pressure, and the feeling of being held.

BloomKnit™ gets its weight from its cotton construction. It does not use glass beads or plastic pellets as weighting material. Its chunky open-knit design leaves spaces between the loops, allowing air and body heat to move through the blanket.

Traditional weighted blankets commonly create weight with glass beads or plastic pellets held inside quilted pockets or compartments.

BloomKnit™ takes a different approach. Thick cotton strands are hand-knit into substantial open loops, and every strand contains 100% cotton inside. The material and construction of the blanket itself create the weight, so there is no separate layer of glass beads or plastic pellets.

There are also no loose weighted beads or pellets to shift, pool, or rustle as you move. The result is substantial, distributed weighted comfort with a quiet, open-knit construction.

Machine wash cold in a front-loading machine only, inside the included cotton wash bag on a bedding cycle. Do not use a top-loading machine, as agitation can pull the knit. Dry flat or tumble dry on low until completely dry. Do not hang while wet. Do not bleach or use fabric softener. Dry cleaning is also acceptable.

Why cotton changes everything

Traditional weighted blankets use glass beads or polyester fill - materials that trap heat and create noise when you move. Will a weighted blanket make me too hot?

A quilted, bead-filled one often will. The beads sit in
sewn pockets between fabric layers, so the blanket works as
an insulator whether you want it to or not.
BloomKnit is an open knit with gaps you can see through, so
air moves rather than collecting. It stays on the bed year
round, including summer, and it was built for people who
overheat at night or wake up with night sweats.

Where does the weight come from?

The weight comes from the cotton itself. Chunky open loops hand-knit from cotton, with 100% cotton inside every strand.
There are no glass beads, no plastic pellets, no polyester, nothing synthetic anywhere in the blanket. Cotton inside and out.

What weight and size should I choose?

Roughly 10 percent of your body weight, give or take a
pound or two depending on preference.

15 lb: 45 x 72 in (114 x 183 cm)
20 lb: 48 x 72 in (122 x 183 cm)

Around 140 to 180 lb, the 15 tends to fit. Above that, the

Both are sized to your body rather than to your mattress.
Weight that hangs over the sides pulls the blanket away

Can you machine wash a chunky knit weighted blanket?

BloomKnit, yes. Cold, in the cotton wash bag it arrives in,
on the bedding cycle. The bag keeps the loops from catching on the drum.
Dry flat or tumble dry low, checking between cycles.
Heavier blankets may need two or three low heat cycles to
dry completely. Never hang it while wet.
Many beaded blankets are spot clean or dry clean only, so
check the label on yours.

Does the knit stretch out over time?

The main cause of stretching is hanging a wet blanket.
Cotton holds a lot of water, and 15 pounds of dry blanket
is considerably heavier wet. Hanging it puts all that weight on the loops at the top.
Dry it flat, or tumble dry low, and the knit holds its shape. This is the single most important thing in caring for it.
